Un inno di protesta vero e proprio: Baraye, la canzone del cantante iraniano Shervin Hajipour viene cantata da tutti coloro che in Iran combattono per l’emancipazione delle donne e della condizione femminile, battaglia intensificatasi dopo l’uccisione di Mahsa Amini nel settembre 2022.
Il brano, il cui titolo in persiano significa “Perché” o “A causa di”, è stato scritto e cantato da Hajipour ma presto rimosso dai social, mentre lui è stato arrestato. Con un pretesto sembra che i persecutori abbiano fatto in modo di far figurare la canzone come scritta da altri, e quindi facendola rimuovere dalle piattaforme online per infrazione di copyright.
Ma non è bastato: in Iran il brano viene cantato in segreto, nelle scuole superiori dagli studenti e suonato dalle auto come inno di resistenza. “Per le donne, la vita e la libertà” canta Hajipour, elencando obblighi, doveri e imposizioni ai quali il popolo iraniano, specie tra i più giovani, non è più disposto a sottostare.

A real protest anthem: Baraye, the song by Iranian singer Shervin Hajipour is sung by all those in Iran who fight for the emancipation of women and the status of women, a battle that intensified after the killing of Mahsa Amini in September 2022.
The song, whose title in Persian means “Because” or “Because of”, was written and sung by Hajipour but soon removed from social media, while he was arrested. Under a pretext it seems that the persecutors have managed to make the song appear as written by others, and therefore by having it removed from online platforms for copyright infringement.
But that wasn’t enough: in Iran the song is sung in secret, in high schools by students and played by cars as a hymn of resistance. “For women, life and freedom” sings Hajipour, listing obligations, duties and impositions to which the Iranian people, especially among the youngest, are no longer willing to submit.
