Russia, Mosca, 14 marzo 2023: I deputati in terza lettura hanno adottato emendamenti al Codice degli illeciti amministrativi, nonché emendamenti al Codice penale della Federazione Russa. Ora saranno ritenuti responsabili non solo per aver espresso un’opinione negativa sulle azioni dell’esercito russo in Ucraina, ma anche per aver criticato qualsiasi partecipante a un’invasione su vasta scala, inclusi volontari o mercenari, ad esempio, del Wagner PMC. La nuova legge aumenterà la pena prevista dagli articoli per “falso” e “calunnia” (parte 1 dell’articolo 207.3 e parte 1 dell’articolo 280.3 del codice penale) da tre a cinque anni. Per il reato di “ripetute calunnie che hanno comportato pericolose conseguenze” (art. 280, comma 3, comma 2, cp), la pena è stata aumentata da cinque a sette anni di reclusione. La durata massima della reclusione ai sensi di questi articoli sarà ora fino a 15 anni e multe fino a 5 milioni di rubli.
Russia: further tightening of the Russian penal code
Russia, Moscow, March 14, 2023: Russian MPs amended in third reading the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Critics of the “Special Operation” will be held accountable not only for expressing a negative opinion over the actions of the Russian army in Ukraine, but also for criticizing any participants in a full-scale invasion, including volunteers or mercenaries, for example, from the Wagner PMC. The new law prescribes harsher punishments for “fake” and “discredit” (part 1 of article 207.3 and part 1 of article 280.3 of the Criminal Code), from three to five years. As for the offende of “repeated discredit that entailed dangerous consequences” (part 2 of article 280.3 of the Criminal Code), the punishment increases from five to seven years in prison. The maximum term of imprisonment under these articles will now be up to 15 years, and fines up to 5 million rubles.
