Il marito di una delle detenute politiche delle proteste dell’11 luglio 2021 aggiorna un’amica sulla condizione delle 11 donne prigioniere della dittatura di L’Avana nel carcere di Guatao: “Sono il marito di Angelica Garrido…allora, le hanno riunite con la Direzione del carcere di Guatao…a Maria Cristina hanno continuato a chiedere se fosse stata lei l’ideatrice della lettera, e ha negato, nessuna si è assunta la leadership dell’iniziativa perché sono state tutte insieme. Le hanno avvertite che non potevano più farlo, e poi hanno preso la misura che nessuna detenuta in quel carcere può più scrivere nulla, neanche ai familiari, non potranno più inviare nessun documento, nessuna lettera, nessuna nota. E questo è stato fatto per creare attriti all’interno del carcere contro di loro…ti immagini adesso, una detenuta qualsiasi che non può scrivere a suo figlio o ricevere una lettera dal marito e non può rispondere a una lettera della propria madre? Tutto questo lo fanno per creare odio contro di loro all’interno del carcere. Una cosa simile era già successa con Angelica, Lisandra e Maria Cristina quando si erano vestite di bianco per protesta… e a quel punto proibirono i vestiti bianchi, cosicché rimasero con quell’uniforme dura, che irrita, grezza, da carcerate e sotto nude praticamente. Hanno minacciata Maria dicendole che possono facilmente accusarla di altri delitti semplici da dimostrare, hanno fatto minacce velate…tu sai come funziona no?”

The husband of a political prisoners of the July 11-2021 protests updates a friend on the condition of the 11 women prisoners of the Havana dictatorship in the Guatao prison: “I’m Angelica Garrido’s husband… so, they brought them together with the Guatao prison management… they continued to ask Maria Cristina if she had been the creator of the letter, and she denied, none of them assumed the leadership of the initiative because they were all together. They warned them that they could no longer do it, and then they took the measure that no inmate in that prison can write anything anymore, not even to family members, they will no longer be able to send any documents, any letters, any notes. And this was done to create friction against them within the prison…can you imagine now, any inmate who cannot write to her son or receive a letter from her husband and cannot reply to a letter from her mother? All this they do to create hatred against them inside the prison. A similar thing had already happened with Angelica, Lisandra and Maria Cristina when they dressed in white in protest… and at that point they forbade white clothes, so that they remained with that hard, irritating, rough, prison uniform and practically nude. They threatened Maria telling her that they can easily accuse her of other crimes that are simple to prove, they made veiled threats… you know how it works, don’t you?”
