E’ morto a 103 anni Ben Ferencz l’ultimo procuratore vivente del processo di Norimberga che processò i nazisti per genocidio e fu tra i primi testimoni esterni a documentare le atrocità dei campi di concentramento della Seconda guerra mondiale.
Ferencz è deceduto venerdì sera in una casa di cura a Boynton Beach, in Florida: l’annuncio della scomparsa è stato dato dal figlio Donald Ferencz al “New York Times“. Come pubblico ministero Benjamin Ferencz fece condannare 22 tedeschi che guidarono le squadre paramilitari conosciute come Einsatzgruppen, che facevano parte delle famigerate SS naziste.
Ho avuto l’onore di intervistarlo undici mesi fa e fu per me davvero importante. La sua lucidità nel leggere il presente e prefigurare il futuro va ascoltata di nuovo. Un uomo eccezionale che ha fatto della difesa dei diritti umani la propria missione di vita.

Ben Ferencz, human rights defender in Nuremberg, dead
Ben Ferencz, the last living prosecutor of the Nuremberg trials who tried the Nazis for genocide and was among the first external witnesses to document the atrocities of the concentration camps of the Second World War, has died at the age of 103.
Ferencz died Friday evening in a nursing home in Boynton Beach, Florida: the announcement of the disappearance was given by his son Donald Ferencz to the “New York Times”.
As prosecutor Benjamin Ferencz convicted 22 Germans who led the paramilitary squads known as Einsatzgruppen, which were part of the infamous Nazi SS.
I had the honor of interviewing him eleven months ago and it was really important to me. His lucidity in reading the present and prefiguring the future must be listened to again. An exceptional man who has made the defense of human rights his life’s mission.
