Myanmar, Taungtha, 8 aprile 2023: Secondo i residenti locali, un gruppo di persone in abiti civili ha distrutto la sede della Lega Nazionale per la Democrazia (NLD) nella cittadina di Taungtha la sera del 7 aprile.
Un membro del NLD del comune di Taungtha ha dichiarato: “Sappiamo che un gruppo di più di 10 persone è arrivato e ha distrutto l’edificio intorno alle 9:30 di ieri sera. Hanno fracassato i vetri delle finestre con martelli e sassi”.
Dopo il colpo di stato militare del 2021, la sede della NLD di Taungtha è stata vandalizzata ben cinque volte. I residenti locali hanno anche riferito che sono stati rimossi computer, telefoni e altre apparecchiature per ufficio.

Myanmar: NLD office in Taungtha destroyed
Myanmar, Taungtha, 8 April 2023: According to local residents, a group of people in civilian clothes destroyed the office of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Taungtha township on the evening of 7 April.
An NLD member from Taungtha township said: ‘We know that a group of more than 10 people came and destroyed the building at around 9.30 last night. They smashed the windows with hammers and stones.”
Since the military coup in 2021, the NLD office in Taungtha has been vandalised five times. Local residents also reported that computers, phones and other office equipment were removed.
